On Sunday, March 1st,2015, the Smithtown 350 Foundation kicks the 350th anniversary year off in earnest with the Richard Bull Smythe relay run. This Olympic-torch style relay honors the spirit of town-founder Richard Smythe's legendary ride around the borders of Smithtown! Participants join together to run thirty-six consecutive one-mile legs through each of the town's hamlets and villages. Runners will pass a ceremonial proclamation baton along the route that will be read at the conclusion of the run, officially opening the yearlong festivities. The cost to sponsor a mile and participate in the run is $250. Miles are available on a first come, first-served basis, and ten participants will be allowed to run per each sponsored mile.
